Inspired by Italy captain Sergio Parisse has guided his side to a 53-17 victory over Russia in their match of the Rugby World Cup Pool C at Trafalgar Park in Nelson.
Parisse played a role in at least three of the six first half tries to Italy, marking the first and the creation of two other clinics like the Italians dominated the forward exchanges in the notch 50 points for the first time in a World Cup match.
"We are very pleased to win five points and was very important for us to try to qualify (for the quarter-finals)," Parisse said in an interview on the sidelines.
"We scored a few tries and we are confident in an attack, but our defense is improved, because the United States and Ireland is very difficult," added their last two opponents pool.
The winger Giulio Toniolatti Tommaso Benvenuti and the center has also scored two tries each, while scrum half Edoardo Gori, winger Luke McLean and Alessandro Zanni has also crossed for the Italians.
