Topics Trends is a column that looks at the week in hockey Twitter. If you do not want to comment, saying how stupid Twitter, why not just go and have a good cry of the slow, sad demise of your beloved, instead of the Internet?
Another report released earlier this week that Sidney Crosby (Notes) had suffered a setback in his attempt to recover from a concussion, the symptoms would not be ready to begin the NHL season in October as a result .
In my estimation, was the second report of its kind since 7500 suffered its first shock of the Winter Classic (maybe), or against the Tampa Bay Lightning a few days later (no doubt). Note that this does not include the number of reports as strong as I was almost ready to return to the team in time for the final game of the season, qualifying second round if they do, and field training today.
The latter, "He did not clear in time," the report was presented by CTV Atlantic, where anyone can say, based on evidence of absolutely nothing but hearsay, as were the first. It 'was apparently the result of his retirement will be taken to the ice rink area of Halifax, as if it were a sort of indication of anything at this point.
People believe what they want to believe though. If they want to believe that all goes well, these reports are rubbish. If you want to believe that he has suffered this setback, reports are the gospel. No amount of rebuttal from anyone - not Ray Shero, the other not-perfect Dan Bylsma, no clean agent Crosby - influence the opinions one way or another.
Skeptics think that these people are not completely in the next best, or paint a rosy picture a guy through some serious health problems for their own benefit, in the worst cases. And 'as if an organization or a loved Crosby happy to Come Out And Play Mohammed Saeed al-Sahafi Pens quiet fans around the world, the Mighty Crosby really is not necessary to pay a little' concussion.
There were also calls for some of the same corner of Crosby to get out and swear on a stack of Bibles that he is in good condition, preferably at the same time, tap dance and do long division now show that is 100 percent ready for this next NHL season. And finally complied, as it were, this would ensure that he is just eager to go, the score millions of points, we all know that can still be galvanizing and a league superstar.
But the quote was so milquetoast that everything he has ever said since entering the league, and ultimately revealed nothing. Like anything else anyone has said about his one condition or another.
He felt the need to fulfill all, however, is simply atrocious.
Let's be clear here: This is not a form of state secret. This is not the 87th region is the health of a person.
Suppose that Crosby was out, and said he is ready to start the season, although symptoms such as penguins, this time it was said last week. Although I was not dizzy or light-sensitive that day or week, which would prove nothing.
How many "setbacks" have heard? It is so named because things were going well, and Crosby was training as a result, then the symptoms returned. There is no absolute guarantee that he can do, then no. It's that simple.
The reason it has not and will not get a definitive answer now - except that sometime in the future have a nebulous "total recovery" - is that no one can give. It is not a broken wrist or groin shot, is a concussion, we all know that this is very different from person to person and even one incident to another.
Marc Savard (Notes) had three concussions before Matt Cooke (notes) with the elbow and lost a total of only 16 games as a result. Then she had to be one of last season, before people really began to say his career was probably over.
You know, when we should all begin to celebrate the return of Crosby, or complain about his inability to play?
Once the season starts.
It's still August. Training camp is not open for several weeks. Although the Pens would be wise to keep him out of all the preseason games, most people do not think you're ready until the first real success against a professional hockey player in real life.
And even then, I just feel like we should be nervous.
