Shaquille O'Neal (notes) accuses Barack Obama for his role in the Boston Celtics Rajon Rondo has custody (notes) misery shot late in the season. And, yes ... what? Shaq is blaming the President? What he has to do with Rajon Rondo?
As is customary for the sitting U.S. president Barack Obama has accused his share of misfortune in the country. If you deserved it or not, the responsibility is with him, and no increase in the cost of a serious shortage of wars in the price of frozen tilapia leads to a rant passionate about public vote. Or non-voting public, though.
But to blame a guy shooting Rondo rajón like, well, Rajon Rondo?
SLAM is Tzvi Twersky come through a heck of a scoop to locate O'Neal last book of the sample. And even though Shaq is usually wrong (read: the side benefits) of self-promotion, he turns a yarn enough to keep reading, click, and buy what they want to tell the story of that day.
Charter:
In early March, some of the guys went to the Museum of Fine Arts to raise funds and have to go with President Barack Obama. Everyone was amazed. The President is directed to Ray [Allen] says the Rondo, and said, "Hey, Ray, why not learn how to get this guy?" Everyone starts laughing.
[...]
KG said he looks at the face Rondo and the child was devastated, embarrassed. Dissed by the president, but I'm sure Obama does not mean any harm. Rondo smiled and with it all, but KG said he could see in his eyes. It bothered Rondo. It killed him.
The next day Rondo shot the ball horribly. He stopped taking shot after that. It is so sensitive. I think it was a real shock to hear the external perception of a basketball fan who happens to be the president of the United States. It messed with his mind. I'm sure of it.
Like all apocryphal tales, even if they happen to be true, there is enough truth in the conjecture to hold the place.
Rondo can not shoot. This knowledge is spread across all party lines. But he managed to maintain a healthy percentage of shooting with their readers and interior finishes in the first half of 2010-11.
This included 54 percent shooting in November, 58 percent in December, January 50, and 48 percent shooting in February. Then came the visit in early March with the President. Rondo shot 41 percent in March and 40 percent in April.
Again, all this could be another point-grab of O'Neal, who was dismissed without notice celebrates access to the White House earlier this year. Rondo for much less aggressive and / or enthusiastic as the season moved along, but can we blame this on a message from the President?
Of course we can. Athletes take the constant flow of ribs for most days during their amateur or professional career of his friends, fans, opponents and especially his teammates. But a president respected zing? It could happen to a guy.
Yet, to borrow a phrase unnecessary never made good, you need to pull up by your bootstrap, Rajon. And get your elbow under the ball when you shoot. Once it heals, of course.
